Is a Jojoba Oil Acne Treatment Really Going to Guarantee Clear Skin?

There is a serious amount of acne remedies circulating online that claim to offer instantly flawless skin, but which really work? One of the most popular natural acne remedies out there is the jojoba oil acne treatment, and although I am the first to say that I am a big fan of natural skin care as an aesthetician, it still pays to do a little bit of research before putting any ingredient on your skin…

What Benefits Does a Jojoba Oil Acne Treatment Provide?

Jojoba oil is a botanical extract from the jojoba tree, and one interesting fact about this ingredient is that it is a wax ester as opposed to actual oil. [1] While this may not mean anything to you yet, please understand that wax ester is significant because it simulates the natural oils found on the skin, which are also called sebum.

For this reason, using a jojoba oil acne product can emulate the natural oils on the surface of your skin so that your skin naturally produces less lubrication. As an acne sufferer, this effect is a total jackpot since it can be difficult to control oil production on the skin that mixes with dead skin cells and causes an acne lesion.

Problem solved, right? Not entirely… While a jojoba oil acne product provides a great benefit in balancing the surface of the skin, it does not have the capability to cure acne since the root cause of acne lies much deeper.

The truth is that even if you use jojoba oil acne products religiously, you would still not be able to get rid of your acne in the long term.

Why is that, you ask? Although acne lesions are related to excess oil in the skin mixing with dead skin cells and acne bacteria to create a breakout, this excess oil production is a result of an imbalanced diet that causes serious digestive issues and leaves the skin in poor condition.

Before we move on any further, let’s hear from a few acne sufferers on the acne.org forums that have used jojoba oil acne products on their skin:

About 4 weeks ago I stopped using jojoba. I stopped because I finally realized my skin was chronically dehydrated. I tried a bunch of moisturizers but every day bumps appeared on my skin. My skin kept getting worse and I ended up with a few very big bumps and about 50 small ones. I tried many things – retinoids, bp, azelaic – nothing helped. I’m pulling my hair out wondering what I did to have my skin go bad so quickly? And then I remembered – I stopped using jojoba! Back on it now and in a very short time my skin is looking so much better!

  • The best moisturizer I have ever used
  • Cheaper than you think (a bottle lasts FAR longer than a comparably sized bottle of lotion)
  • Relieves dryness without causing breakouts
  • Has never caused a breakout for me despite using LOTS at a time
  • Can be messy
  • Can cause shininess
  • Can gunk up makeup brushes, etc. in a way that lotions might not

Jojoba Oil Acne Products Conclusion

While jojoba oil is a proven gentle moisturizing ingredient that is highly necessary to keep your skin in balance and even soothe a dry and flaky complexion that has been ravaged by acne, it is not a cure-all acne solution.

The good news to keep in mind is that when you are out shopping for acne products, you can steer clear of harsh and aggressive ingredients like benzoyl peroxide that aggressively dry out surface oils on your skin and cause redness and inflammation. Instead, you can use gentle jojoba oil acne products that mimic the natural surface oils of your skin to bring your complexion into balance and reduce surface irritation.

On top of that, you can take it a step further by attacking acne at its root and making necessary changes in your diet by eliminating unhealthy processed foods. Foods that are full of sugar, chemicals, and additives will only load your body full of toxins, weaken your immune system, and cause digestive issues that will leave your skin damaged and vulnerable to acne.

If you want to kill two birds with one stone, I strongly encourage you to use a gentle jojoba oil acne product to moisturize and balance your complexion AFTER you have gotten your diet under control to attack acne at its root and ensure that your skin remains strong and resilient.

A good diet isn’t the only answer. I have cystic acne around my cycle and that’s due to hormones. While a good diet is important, Bethany shouldn’t oversimplify things. There are enough people out there who have literally tried everything and still suffer from acne.

I agree with Amy. I also suffered from cystic acne that was hormonal, and Jojoba Oil really is my cure-all solution. I started using it and have not had an outbreak since.

I think it is important to have a good diet not just to help with acne but also for your overall health. I must say I am a real advocate of jojoba oil for acne and use mama natures teenage dream and must say it has dramatically reduced my acne and has improved the overall condition of my skin. It does make your skin shiny but not greasy, it gives it a nice healthy glow. Before I had dull acne ridden skin, now I have healthy looking almost clear skin.

will i give any result on colour of the skin
