Are Urine Therapy Acne Remedies All They’re Cracked Up to Be?
I’m sure that as an acne sufferer you have discovered by now how very expensive many over-the-counter acne products can be, and don’t even get me started on the price of prescription acne medications! But once you spend your paycheck on these products that are advertised to clear up your skin, it becomes even more disappointing when they often have no effect whatsoever.
If you have searched online for free acne treatments, you may have come across a potential remedy called the urine therapy acne treatment.
What Is the Urine Therapy Acne Treatment?
You may have heard by now that urine is sterile since it is made of 95% water, 2.5% urea, and 2.5% salt, minerals, enzymes, and hormones. For this reason, many health practitioners believe that the sterility of urine has an antiseptic benefit when it is consumed and even applied topically to the skin. This correlates with clearing up acne in your skin since acne is caused by the p. acnes bacteria mixing with oil and dead skin cells to form painful, inflamed, and infected lesions on the surface of the skin. However, does this necessarily mean that you must apply your own urine to your skin if you want a clear and radiant complexion? Not quite.
Moving on, some natural health blogs promote drinking urine as a method of survival in areas with unsafe drinking water, and they believe it may also provide the benefit of making the body resistant to disease. While that may be the case if you happen to be stranded on a desert island or are the victim of a natural disaster like an earthquake, the truth is that there is a much better and more effective way to treat your skin than using a topical urine therapy acne treatment.
Here’s what several acne sufferers had to say about urine therapy acne treatments on the acne.org forums:
I can’t believe I put urine on my face last night. The thought of it was worse than actually doing it. It didn’t smell but this is because I drink a lot of water – 2.5 L a day. I can’t tell my husband – he thinks I’m weird enough for putting Apple Cider Vinegar on my face. I have had a bad breakout of cystic acne on my chin for the past two weeks. It’s been a long time since this happened and it looks awful! I am hoping that this works. So far it’s brought the two big ones I have on the left and right side of my chin to a head.
It works pretty good on acne. It didn’t reduce my redness as much as everyone says on these reviews but o well. There are lots of other ways to reduce redness.
Tightens the skin, makes my moisturizer work better, takes care of the deep cystic acne in a matter of days. I’ve had no new acne since using urine. Smells and I would NEVER want anyone to know that’s what I’m using.
Although some of users of the urine therapy acne treatment have seen moderate results, it is important to point out that it is not necessary to apply urine topically to your skin when there is another more effective solution available to you: making healthy changes to your diet.
Urine Therapy Acne Treatment Alternatives
Instead of turning to a urine therapy acne remedy as your only solution, you can head directly to the source by making necessary changes in your diet. Since your skin is the largest organ in your body, it would only make sense that it would reflect your internal health. This means that if you’re filling your body full of harmful substances, like preservatives, additives, unhealthy fats, and excess sugar, then you could only expect that your skin would start to reflect these internal issues in the form of a dull complexion, premature wrinkles, and especially acne.
Understanding this acne-diet connection is vitally important if you want any hope of boosting your immune system to ultimately strengthen and clear up your skin.
Although it may be true that urine therapy acne remedies provide an outer antiseptic benefit, you can avoid this potentially unpleasant treatment altogether by giving your skin the necessary vitamins and minerals it needs to repair itself from the inside out so that it becomes resistant to the acne bacteria at the surface. This is a much more effective approach to acne treatment for the long term by giving your body and skin the healthy nutrients that they need to combat outer infection.
